It has been March for a few weeks now and that can only mean one thing. March Madness is here and I for one could not be more excited. 64 of the best teams in the country will be seeking to become National Champion for they 2016. These teams have battled it out all season, in hopes of getting a good seed to compete for the crown. Whether you are new to March Madness or are a die hard, here are the top reason why March Madness is so great.
1. Brackets
Whether you are filling them out just for fun, or submitting it into a pool with friends, brackets give you that in the action experience during every single march madness game. Printing out a bracket and filling it out is one of the best parts about the tournament.
2. Cinderella Teams
I’m not sure why, but every year there are about two teams in the tournament that go crazy and make multiple upsets. Could Cincinnati/ St. Joe's pull the upset on number one Oregon this year? Or, could it be a team that no one is expecting. Regardless, upsets will be bountiful this tournament, which makes every game worth watching!
3. March Madness Stars
Big games create big players, and that is exactly what this tournament is about. Last year it was Duke’s Grayson Allen who came out of nowhere to help them win a National Championship. He had not really been a factor all season, but once the tournament started he became Mr. Clutch. Once again this year, expect a few ordinary players to become household names. I can guarantee it.
4. Social Events
Regardless of what games are going on, people are always going to get together and enjoy the games in a social setting. The weather is beginning to feel like spring and people are going to want to party and have fun during the games. What better excuse to get together during the week than March Madness?
5. The Only Thing That's On TV
If you are a fan like me, then you are happy about this. Even when baseball games aren’t going on most of the television networks are all talking about the games that happened previously or games that are upcoming. Forget about seeing recaps of other sports on SportsCenter. It is March Madness all the time. Replays, analysis, interviews, press conferences, its all basketball all the time!
6. Buzzer Beaters
Like the upsets, buzzer beaters always seem to play a huge role in March Madness as well. Every single match-up has the potential to be a neck and neck game, which allows for the possibility for the game to end on one final shot. That shot could be to tie the game or to win the game, but regardless it always makes for must see television. Nothing is more exciting for a player to hit a buzzer beater and to see the other player’s reactions. Priceless.
7. The Final
The whole tournament has come down to one final game, and this is what we have been waiting for. Two teams remain and they are so close to cutting down the nets. The arena is sold out, the crowd is buzzing, the players are hyped, and the pressure could not be higher. The final always creates for great entertainment and is always close. Great plays loom, and in the end a team will be crowned. Who will it be? I guess you will have to watch the tournament to find out!
