For about seven years now I have been hooked on YouTube. I spend a great deal of my free time watching makeup and hair tutorials, all to continue wearing just mascara and my hair in a ponytail. I know, it doesn't make sense to me either. Through the years I have discovered dozens of people that I regularly watch, but no one has effected me quite like Mr. Manny Gutierrez. I have been watching him since his fifth video, and it is safe to say that I am obsessed. The boy's got skills, mmkay? I will just go ahead and give you a quick rundown of why this total stranger that lives across the country is my best friend and spirit animal and the light of my life.
1. FREAKING GORGEOUS
Now, I know admiration of someone based solely on their beauty is not true admiration, but let me just say that this man is phenomenal. Like, he goes from being a spicy brotha I want to makeout with to a fierce diva that I want to do my makeup. How is this possible, Manny? Why do you get to slay my existence no matter what you look like? Don't answer that. Just keep doing it. It burns so nice.
2. Hilarious
Aside from being aesthetically pleasing, Manny is also outrageously funny. Whenever I watch his videos, I laugh out loud. He's sassy and delightful and I just want to be his best friend. We're best friends in my head, so it's cool.
3. Humble
Manny's channel has grown exceptionally fast, with nearly 700,000 subscribers in just over a year. He has created a liquid lipstick with a cosmetics brand, and has an eyeshadow palette coming out soon. Amidst all of this success, Manny still keeps it real, and he thanks his supporters in every single video. He is honest and driven and he loves his Mannyacs. He makes my little heart explode in the best way possible. I just love him. I also make all of my friends and family watch his videos with me and they like him, too. He is genuine through and through, it just exudes from him.
4. Confident
Even as we near 2016, boys wearing makeup is still a shock to a lot of people. Rude, ignorant comments about what he chooses to do to his face do not deter Manny, though. And that is my favorite thing about him. He is always unapologetically himself and he never puts others down. That's what makes him a great role model in my eyes. He's just great, alright?
