I met my best friend Molly in accounting class my junior year of college. I knew of her before then, but it wasn’t until we had accounting that we really began to talk and quickly became best friends. I even traveled across the country from Massachusetts to Hawaii to spend my Spring Break with her while she was on National Student Exchange in Hilo. As crazy as that notion sounds I know that she would do the same for me. Whether it be supporting my decision to not pursue a career in accounting to consoling me when I’m upset because I failed a test she is always there for me no matter what. My best friend supports every decision I make and is never selfish in her support. After being away in Hawaii for four months I then chose to do the Disney College Program and move to Florida for seven months. Even though this meant being away from each other for over a year she still supported my decision and even encouraged me to go and live my dream because it is a once in a lifetime opportunity. That is what true friends do though; they encourage one another to go after their dreams no matter what it takes. Even though we are two thousand miles apart we still talk every day and even though I miss her I know that no matter what we will always be friends. Having a friend who supports your decisions is so important because without a support system sometimes you can never succeed. I have done things in life I never thought I would do with the help of Molly. She has supported me through every decision I have made since we met whether it was a good one or bad. Of course she had an opinion on everything but ultimately she let me choose. Even when it comes to stupid decisions regarding boys she still supports me. This is what true friendship is and I cannot thank her enough for everything she has done for me. I love all of our stupid talks about the future and living next door to each other near Boston. I would never make it through seven months in Florida without the daily texts from her. Molly may never know how much her friendship means to me but that’s alright because all that matters is that I am there for her in return and that we continue to support each other in all of our endeavors.
I also have a best friend since high school by the name of Bobby who has helped me through some of the biggest and hardest moments of my life. My mom knew Bobby before I did and she told him we would be great friends, but she was wrong because he is more than just a friend. When I broke up with my boyfriend of over three years he was the first person I called and the one there for me. No matter what time of day or how stupid the problem is he is always there for me no matter what. Even if he is busy and can’t be there for me the moment I need him he will always try to help me as soon as he can. There have been times where I have come to him on a school night wicked upset and he has put projects aside to take the time to make me feel better. He is my best friend and my rock because no matter how many stupid things I do he is always there to pick me up when I fall and congratulate me when I succeed. He and I can spend the day laughing together without a care in the world. He is the type of friend where we could not talk for months and then hang out and it’s like we had just talked yesterday. He is my best friend and I know he will remain my best friend for the rest of my life. He has no idea how much I love him and how much I truly appreciate every little thing he has done for me over the years. Even when I first started writing these articles he was so excited for me and said that he wanted to read everything I wrote. We may be many states away from each other right now but I know that no matter what he is just a phone call away. There is a stigma that guys and girls can’t be just friends but Bobby and I prove that this is wrong. He is my best friend and I love him for supporting all that I do.
