Why I Choose To Love In A World Full Of Hate

Why I Choose To Love In A World Full Of Hate

As I watch the rise and fall of my brothers chest while he lay sound asleep beside me, I can't help but smile as I remember him asking me for a "brother sissy sleepover" through his pizza-covered lips. My brother may only be 6, but he is the purest and truest form of love I know.

My brother loves many things, and when he loves something, he loves it with his whole entity. At the raw age of 6, hate is a word we come to realize. In my family, "hate" is a bad word. We may "strongly dislike" something, but never "hate" it, due to the notion that if we hate something, we do not agree with it nor do we accept it. My brother has not an ounce of hatred in his body, and I hope he stays an innocent, chocolate pudding covered, smiley little love-bug.

At the young age of 6, we are afraid of the monsters under our beds and what lurks in the dark, but when we grow up we realize that the scary darkness is inside of those monsters, and the monsters soon become us. It is my belief that we choose to slay those monsters and project love into this scary, hurting world.

In a world full of hate, I choose love. I choose to love every single individual who walks across this earth. I choose to love in a fully committed, soul smiling, face numbing type of way. I choose to smile rather than grimace at the person who does something I "strongly dislike," because loving anything and everything makes living life so much easier, and so much more worth it.

There are tragedies, some more terrible than others, but despite the hatred and the anger, love must shine through. Love is what holds us together. Love is the glue that binds this world at the seams. Some people believe that love is a useless emotion that creates a stagnant world and an uneventful society, but love is what provides the most growth, and growth in numbers.

Love unites the world and revolves around passion. Love is that feeling you get when your favorite song comes on and you get goosebumps up and down your body and you can feel your body just floating with an abundance of joy. That type of love is what the world needs to feel. Society needs to open up their stone cold hearts, protected by an armor of hate, and let love and joy rush in and overtake their being.

I love because love is the best thing there is on this earth. Love provides hope. Love provides life. Love provides direction in a world that seems like the only way it can go is down. Love provides thousands of lanterns gleaming with light at the end of that long and winding tunnel.

The world is not void of love, but love is hidden deep within the souls who are terrified to show others that they do in fact, love. Instead of fighting with hate, we should embrace with love. We should love those who have different beliefs and different opinions. Love may not be the answer to every worldly problem, but it comes pretty close.

In this world overcome with darkness, be the light that shines through the hate, cutting it like a knife; a sword made of love. Love is the essence of our very existence; we are love and love is within us. Project it and be it, for the world is empty without it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
