Why Joining A Sorority Was The Best Decision

Nothing is better than the bond of sisters.

Why Joining A Sorority Was The Best Decision

There are many big decisions that I have come across in college, my major, my classes, and whether or not I wanted to play on a sports team, but there is one decision I made that I am the happiest about. The one I'm the happiest about: joining a sorority. Never in a million years did I believe that I would join a sorority. To be completely honest, I went through recruitment just to go through it. I never thought I would fall in love with Greek life the way that I did. I always believed what I saw on TV and in movies but it was completely different from what I expected. It was without a doubt the best decision I have made.

Not only did I find a group of girls where I feel like I belong, I found my second family. They've become my home away from home and made transitioning into college so easy. Once I got my big, I knew there was no turning back. They all helped cure homesickness for me and made me realize why I love the school I go to. Like all families, they've become my backbone. I know that not matter what happens my big, my little, my gbig and everyone else will help me through it.

Having such a big family means always having someone to do something with. I could post in our Facebook group about going to get get food or going somewhere and I'll get an answer from someone. Bored is something I am not at school because there is always something to do with them. We could sit for hours talking, laughing and not get bored. There's always a friendly face on campus and I'm constantly bumping into one of them going to class or going to Starbucks to study.

Also, joining a sorority was the best decision I've made because I met so many people in other Greek organizations. The one thing Greek Life isn't is competitive (unless it's penny wars). We always try our best to support each other and attend each other's events to help raise money for their philanthropies. When it comes to campus wide events such as Relay for Life we always make sure to do everything possible to help raise money and support the causes. I have met so many great people in other Greek organizations just by going to these events and have become so close with them as well.

Joining a Greek organization has opened so many doors for me. Not only have I met some extraordinary people, I've also learned a lot of things from my chapter. I learned how and when to be professional, as well as how to goof off and have a good time. There are many things I'm grateful for but my sorority is one of the things I am most grateful for. I learn something new every day from them and I wouldn't be the person I am without being surrounded by every single one of them. I didn't just gain friends for four years, I gained sisters who I know will be around for the rest of my life.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
