We all have either been that "boring" friend or we've called one of our own friends boring. All you want to do is go out tonight and do something fun but your go-to hangout buddy just wants to stay in and catch up on sleep or homework. You're disappointed and you call them boring for not wanting to do the thing you feel like doing. But guess what? It's okay to be the boring friend sometimes. It's okay to not want to go out every single night. It's okay to need time and space to yourself. It's also okay to like sleeping. Heck, sleeping is one of my favorite things to do. So next time your friend calls you boring remember some of these reasons of why it is perfectly okay to be the "boring" friend...
1. School work actually is important and it's not your fault that you have a paper due tomorrow.
Life is about choices and if you choose to finish your schoolwork and your friends call you boring... then so be it. Friends should be supportive of your accomplishments and life goals and if they aren't then maybe they aren't really your friends anyways.
2. Everyone needs time to themselves.
You definitely aren't a boring person if you need a night alone now and then.
3. Just because you don't feel like doing the "fun" thing your friend has planned, does not make you "boring".
Everyone has different likes and dislikes. Going to that "amazingly awesome rap concert" might sound great to your best friend but it could seem absolutely miserable to you.
4. Boring does not mean bad.
Boring means you think for yourself. It means you make your own choices and you don't mind what others will think of you. It means you are a strong enough person to pick work over pleasure sometimes. It means you have goals and dreams and you know how to use your time wisely. Boring does not mean that you are missing out on life, it simply means that you think about your future and you like to plan ahead and be prepared.
So next time someone calls you boring... just take it as a compliment! Know that you are making your own choices and being your own person! It is your life and you are free to live it how you choose!
