Can someone please explain to me why back to school stuff begins coming out in July, but then disappears in August? Or why Christmas stuff comes out in October when we should be shopping for Halloween and Thanksgiving, not thinking of the possible white Christmas that will come? I understand that attempting to sell more product requires coming out earlier rather than later, but do we have to over step every single holiday and miss out on its importance? The other thing is that every holiday now becomes commercialized to the extreme, missing the true essence of every special occasion.
Christmas is about family.Thanksgiving is about food, family, and friends. Easter has various meanings for every person. St. Patrick ’s Day I am sure has a meaning, but it seems for most it is an excuse to get drunk.Valentine ’s Day is a commercialized holiday to allows people to show they care by buying expensive items. If you don’t go all out, you are a bad person. As the trend continues it appears that the meanings of holidays becomes less and less meaningful and more and more commercial.
So maybe the meaning of these holidays makes the stores want to bring out their holiday supplies months early.Perhaps it is the desire for more money. Who knows. But here is the problem with all these holidays coming out early: In august, I am super excited for Halloween, but when Christmas stuff comes out in October I just forget about how amazing Halloween is. I love Halloween and it is just a shame that this disgrace of the holidays happens every year and seems to come earlier and earlier and earlier. Here is a plea to all stores… please stop trying to take over the holidays instead of embracing them. That would be greatly appreciated!
