Our generation is overpowered by electronics in the 21st century. We are in the age of technology and being taken over by the internet. Part of this is social media, which many college students, including myself, use. We procrastinate and spend hours upon hours just scrolling our news feed and wasting time. Now don’t get the idea in your head that I’m here to bash the use of social media. The social media apps we all use and love have great benefits for our overall well-being. Instagram, an app for photography, is my personal favorite platform simply for the reason that it can have amazing perks for you.
Do it for the 'gram!
Have you ever been inspired by a picture to go out and see beautiful new locations? There have been a number of occasions where I have gone on an adventure with only a goal of achieving that perfect Instagram pic. By doing this, I am able to explore new places whether it’s with my friends or by myself. It’s an amazing experience to go out and find something new and exciting. You can create great memories or simply clear your mind and relieve stress. Not only will you be able to experience all the benefits at the time, but you can use your Instagram as a permanent, electronic photo book to look back on all the places you visited and the feelings they brought to you.
Actual Goals
Instagram is my main source of inspiration. The greatest part about it is so many people use it for all of their own, different interests. You can get fashion inspiration, find a new workout routine or discover a new band. The possibilities are endless. Honestly, I even use Instagram to plan what I want my future home to look like. It doesn’t matter what you enjoy because you can find anything that may spark your interest and use that to imagine whatever goals you have for the future. Seeing pictures of whatever inspires you can help you to visualize what you will do to achieve whatever plans you have. Instagram is like a portable inspiration board, which will be constantly motivating you to work toward your goals.
#NoFilter
We all have those days where we just feel overly confident about our appearance. It’s not narcissistic to snap a selfie on the days when you’re feeling good about yourself. Whether you’re enjoying how your hair was on fleek that day, or you felt good about the progress you’ve been making in the gym, you should show yourself some love. So go ahead! Find some good lighting, let loose and have yourself a mini photoshoot. It is an amazing way for you to boost self-confidence and positivity. Sharing those pictures on Instagram is also great to spread that positivity to your followers. Confidence breeds confidence, and it’s great to get a boost every once in a while.
Using Instagram has many benefits for a happy soul. So feel free to keep on procrastinating (but not too much), and keep on scrolling.
