Spring break 2016. I am going to Florida! Yeah, I am very excited about this upcoming trip. There are plenty of things to do in Florida. My parents and I are going to go to see the Pirates and New York Yankees play.
This is my last semester at Robert Morris University and it's bittersweet. I really love RMU and it's like a second home. I've had awesome opportunities while at RMU. From the chance to do on-air forecasting for the Sentry News to interning at WDTV in Clarksburg, W. Va., it's been a roller-coaster of awesome events.
This spring break is a bit different than last year. Last year my friends and I went to Hilton Head SC for a week. I really enjoyed staying down south in a house with my buds. I would totally recommend going to Hilton Head if you need a vacation spot to check out. But I love Florida. I have been there four times so far. I love Universal Studios and also Sea World and all the awesome events always happening on CityWalk--such a great place to hang out and have fun!
But this year I'm flying to Tampa, Fla. to go watch pre-season baseball. That is pretty awesome, right? I've never done this before, watching pre-season baseball while in Florida. I found out that we are flying with SouthWest Airlines, which is neat. SouthWest is usually the flight we use to fly down to Florida with because it is the only nonstop carrier. I'd rather have a nonstop flight than have to fly and get onto a connecting flight, because going through the process is extensive and troublesome. What if your flight does not happen or it's late? Then you are stuck.
I have family in Clearwater, Fla., so it's going to be great to see them too. I have not seen my cousins in Florida since 2006, so it is long overdue. Lunch or dinner would be fantastic to catch up and see everybody. Our hotel is near the beach--a few blocks away and we can walk our way to it. I am a true beach bum. I could sit in the sand, listen to music and relax all day. I love the feeling of sand between my toes and the sound of the crashing waves; it is surely one of the most peaceful events out there. I want to live on the beach so bad! Well, not literally on it, but have a beach house and have a place to escape to. I've been thinking where I would want to live and it would be around a coastal area. My eye is set on Wilmington, NC or even Wrightsville Beach, NC. I love those towns and have been there several times with my family, too.
The last Pirates game I went to was at home before playoffs for my friend's 22nd birthday, it was cold, rainy and miserable, but we won! It was so exciting that night to see the home team win. My friend was glad she came, even though she was cold and wet. She got to sit in the front rows and watch her beloved Pirates play.
I'm flying to Florida for spring break of my last semester, and I don't think it gets any better than this. I need a little time away. I know that once I come back I'll be ready to finish off the rest strong and graduate with my head high. Now if only I could find a job--that is the next task!
