Why Getting Married Young Is Something To Celebrate

I'm one of the few people who was lucky enough to find my "soul mate" young. We met when I was seventeen, started dating at eighteen, were engaged when I was nineteen, and I was married at twenty.

A lot of people would stare at my ring finger and ask, "Are you pregnant?"

I would just simply reply, "Nope." Then, I would get a face and a question like, "Oh...well why are you getting married, then?" I didn't even know what to say. Because...I want to?Because I know that this is the person I want to spend my life with?

Since when did getting married young become something wrong?

When did it become something your peers almost shame you for?

Here are some reasons why getting married young is actually something to celebrate:

1. You get to have a sleepover with your best friend every night!

I know this is cliche but totally true – and you get to have sex at this sleepover!

2. You get to grow together.

As you grow, you will change – it's inevitable. This way, you get to change together. When you get married young, you're not so set in your ways; You can adapt to living with another person and their quirks (because let's face it, we're all a little annoying).

3. You can be the biggest brat, and they still have to love you.

OK I'm halfway kidding here, but I'll admit that there are times I'm being ridiculous towards my husband (PMS is a real thing people), but I know that when it happens, my husband is not going to just walk away; It doesn't make him love me any less.

We get through my bratty moments as a team – together – and learn from both of our mistakes

4. Your biggest supporter is always close by.

You know that job interview you're freaking out about? Your husband (or wife) will be right there with you every step of the way – whether that be talking you through a freak out moment at 2 a.m., driving you to the interview or just being there in general. This is a huge stress relief!

They will be your shoulder to cry on if you don't get the job or jumping up and down, opening up a bottle of champagne, if you do.

5. Your ambition and dreams don't stop just because you're married.

I feel this is a big thing young people are worried about these days. Everybody wants to graduate college, find their dream job and work their way up the corporate ladder before they even think about settling down.

Just because you're married, doesn't mean you can't graduate college or get that dream job. It just means you will have your best friend by your side when you do.

Marriage is work and a compromise; You don't always get what you want, but it's also magical and one of the greatest things you will ever do in life!.

I personally love being married. My marriage is far from perfect (and never will be), but it's something that both of us will continue to work at for the rest of our lives.

As a society, I think it's time we stop "shaming" young married people or assuming that the marriage is automatically doomed just because the couple is young.

We should start celebrating and supporting the fact that these two people were lucky enough to find each other at a young age, instead.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
