I find myself longing for the days where I’d pull out my cot, lay on my princess decorated sheets, and drift into a sleep that was much needed. Those were the days, weren’t they? They were the days where homework didn’t exist, jobs weren’t a thing, and day to day life duties were only things that our parents did for us. Nowadays, we are so caught up in our daily schedules, that naps have become essential to some of us. We need them in order to do work, and to carry on though the day. But for me, I’d rather not take a nap.
Don’t get me wrong, I wholeheartedly understand why people take naps. You stayed up too late the night before, had to wake up early, and your schedule for the day is so jam-packed that you need a moment of shut eye to give you that certain boost of energy to get you to the end of the day. There are also those days where I actually need to take a nap, and that's only when the crimson river begins its monthly duty. (My ladies can agree with me on that note).
The feeling of accomplishing everything that I needed to without feeling the urge to lay down and sleep in the middle of it all is a rewarding one. The feeling of being awake and completing what I need to plus more shows that I did all that I could with no breaks in between. I enjoy knowing that no matter how hard it was to keep my eyes open and focus on a goal, I was able to mettle through and get do what I needed. Naps would slow me down, and I wouldn’t dare want to escape my cozy cocoon.
Nothing feels better than hitting the sheets after a long day of work, and even a long day of just relaxation. Naps don’t give me the, “this was well earned,” feeling. Instead, personally, they make me feel lazy. I also feel like deep down, if I sleep in the middle of the day, I could be missing out on a number of opportunities that I wouldn’t be aware of because I was asleep and missed it all. I guess that's why people say life can happen in a blink of an eye?
Sleep is honestly a delicacy, and I treat it as such. Crashing in bed at the end of the day without taking a nap throughout my day definitely ensures that I will have a great night sleep. I'll dream amazing dreams, and feel well rested for the day ahead of me.
