With the upcoming election, many people turn to social media to showcase their political views, criticize candidates, and make jokes about debates. Countless articles, memes, and videos have been made about politics lately.

However, there are also countless rants, hate comments, and harmful posts. Everyone is talking about politics, and we should. It is important to be involved. Politics is a touchy subject, but it needs to be discussed.

For me, I choose not to share how I feel about any kind of politics on my social media.

For many reasons, I choose to forego sharing the latest Donald Trump quote, the latest meme Hillary just tried to joke about, or what Bernie Sanders is talking about. It is not that I don’t care, it’s that I believe politics has its place in my life, and it’s not on my Facebook. We can share anything and everything through social media and it’s amazing. However, my political views are not up for debate. They are not something I want someone to compliment or tell me how I’m wrong. I believe sharing them on Facebook creates a debate that I wish not to take part in. The debate might not be a bad idea, however, I choose not to partake in any of it. It is nothing personal; it was just a personal choice I made.

People who do choose to share their political ideas and views have my respect. It takes courage to share how exactly you feel about some very tough issues on social media. Talking politics is no easy task and taking a stand is brave. We are in the midst of an important election and our country faces many issues. Who we choose as our next president is vital to our operation, and that is a lot of pressure.

The world is watching to see whom America chooses as the next president, and that is scary. I do not have that bravery to share how I feel about certain touchy issues. It takes a lot to be able to open up about things like that for me. Political views are serious and should be treated as such. Our government is why our lives are the way they are most times. It dictates how laws work, and it is not something to be taken lightly.

When the election comes around, you will not see my posting about who won or lost. I have no interest in sharing my opinion. No videos, memes or rants will come out of me. I will choose to vote quietly and privately. I wish not to share about that part of my life and I have come to terms with it.

Sharing everything is not for everyone, especially when it comes to politics and views. If you have the courage to do so, I envy you in some ways. You’re far braver than I am, and that is amazing. If you also choose not to share, I admire your quiet and private nature. Both sides are amazing, and I’m grateful I can see both.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
