College--a time where you figure out where you want to spend the rest of your life, or more importantly, what in the world you want to do in your life. It's the best time to start branching out and finding out exactly what you want to make of yourself and finding yourself.
My first semester has come to a close and I cannot be more grateful yet upset. I have met so many amazing people throughout this semester and I have learned a lot about growing up. I have learned to accept that I won't get along with everyone and that not everything always works out exactly how you need it to, no matter how much you try to get all your ducks in line.
Within the first half of my first semester, I decided to change one of my majors to something completely different because I learned that I didn't enjoy what I was doing. Yeah, it was a good plan and would've set up a clear path for my future, however, it wasn't what I wanted to do.
I have also found out that not everyone will be your friend, no matter how much you try, people will not always like you. I just had to decide for myself that those people were not worth losing myself over. I know what I want in my life and I won't let them stand in the way of it.
While I have learned a lot of tough lessons already in my college career, I have also had one of the best times of my lives. I have met people that I could not imagine my life without and I am not even for sure how I had managed to make it to now without them. They have been my support system throughout all the challenges and I hope that I have been the same for them.
To the second semester high school seniors reading this. College can be scary and at times the most terrifying thing that you have faced yet. But you've got this. You will face things that you haven't had to yet and it will be a big step into your future. Don't have a solid plan, it won't stay (take it from someone who almost had each of her semesters planned out). Don't be afraid to change things up every once in a while. You're going to college to do what you love and if you aren't finding that in what you're studying, look somewhere else.
