Why College Football Is The Best Sport In The World

Do not take the headline lightly. College football is quickly becoming the nation’s favorite sport. Soccer is easily the most played and celebrated sport in the world, but it is missing something that college football has. There are multiple reasons that make the sport the most exciting, unpredictable game ever played.

The college football world is stunned when, all in one week, the unpredictable happens. Polls add to the drama by ranking the top 25 teams out of 120 schools. Teams take pride in having that number to the left of their name. It drives fear into other schools when they play them. Sometimes, the outcome is what you expected; other times, the world stops and watches as Cinderella knocks off the number one team. College sports are the only type of sports with actual polls that rank the teams. Voters from all over America decide every Sunday how the rankings stack up. The chaos is always great TV and great for sports fans.

The passion is another reason why the sport is the best. The passion doesn’t stop with the team. It resides throughout the fan base. Roaring venues leave marks on the Richter scale. Fans erupt when their team scores touchdowns. The parking lots are always full with fans tailgating before the big game -- some small and some large; it is what a lot of people look forward to doing on a Saturday. In the south, Saturdays in the fall are holidays. People take off work on Thursdays just to head up to their alma mater for a football weekend. When the team plays their hearts out, you can see it on their face.

College football is unpredictable. It is amazing to see what can and will happen on the 100 yards of grass. Auburn fans remember winning with one second to go on a missed opportunity by Alabama. What a change of events that was. The best thing about it is that the drama never leaves. It happens every week and, sometimes, multiple times during one week.

People will talk about a classic game and remember exactly where they were when the win happened. All the historical wins, to this day, are times when we remember that feeling of winning with a last second field goal to beat that hated rival. It is the drama that makes the sport so great.

College football runs deep in the heart of Americans. It is second in popularity to the NFL, but not for long. It will certainly begin to catch heat with a playoff system in place. The pageantry of college football runs deep.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
