Every family has traditions, but in my family our main tradition is just doing Christmas the way we believe it should be done. These are the things I can always count on during this beautiful holiday.
1. My parents ALWAYS remind us of the true meaning of Christmas
Even as a child, I was reminded of the many blessings on this Earth that I receive because of one true sacrifice.
2. "A Charlie Brown Christmas"
Because, I mean. Enough said.
3. My mom's traditions
Anything ranging from my mom baking cookies, to always managing to surprise us is unforgettable.
4. Elf on the Shelf
Nothing compares to my younger brother searching for our elf, Edmond, every morning in December.
5. "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation"
My dad never fails to remind us to watch this classic.
6. "Elf"
How could I forget?
7. You have an excuse to wear your ugly Christmas sweater(s)
8. You get to spend time with your family
There is nothing like quality time with those you love.
9. School breaks are always a plus
One of the best times of the year.
10. My mom has six Christmas trees in our house
The "family tree", of course, followed by the "fun," and "vintage," trees.
11. The occasional snowfall in the south
We will never forget any SNOWMAGEDDON. Long live buying loaves of bread and milk.
12. My mom's homemade hot cocoa
There may be way too much sugar in it, but it's Christmas time.
13. My dad's moon-walking every Christmas morning
He must be recorded too.
14. Baking cookies for Santa
We always have to make three dozen. My dad has to taste test them first, too.
15. My parents' preparations before opening gifts
My parents will make a point to take their time in the morning. They must have two cups of coffee and cameras in hand before we can get a peep at the tree.
16. Christmas Eve present
My mom allows us to open one gift on Christmas eve....and it is ALWAYS a soap set.
17. The gift of giving
The feeling of giving a gift to someone you love and their reaction is heartwarming.
