For those of you who are in a sorority you know how much the simple question of "why" is asked when mentioning to others you are in a sorority. This question was first asked when you were a PNM. As a PNM I remember answering that I was very involved in high school, loved volunteering, had very few friends and I was looking for a home away from home. Going through recruitment I repeated this answer many times over the week and I grew to hate being asked this question over and over. But now being a member of my beloved sorority Zeta Tau Alpha I truly understand why they frequently ask "why". Why is the most important question to be asked. This simple word is the window to who you are as a person. It truly shows who you are and how passionate you are in everything you do.
Now when I am asked why I simply answer because I don't know where I would be without my amazing, loving and supportive sisters! Going into college I had no one, my friends went to other colleges and I left my best friend back home. Moving away from home was hard for me because I'm so close to my family and friends. I found my true home away from home and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. I have met so may wonderful and inspiring young women who share so many of the same interests. I have girls who I know will be my best friends for life and who will stand by me through thick and thin. These are the girls that will stand next to me on my wedding day someday.
I am a better person because of all my sisters. Each and every one of them has shaped me into the young woman I am today and will continue to. They are the biggest and best support system anyone could ask for and I am truly blessed to be a part of such a positive and life changing organization for life. I know that once I graduate I am still a Zeta and I will always be a Zeta. This is why joining a sorority was the best choice I have ever made.
