With the presidential election coming up, I feel like my social media has been bombarded with articles, videos of the debates and arguments. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and everyone should vote for who they believe in. The thing is, social media has become the most powerful platform for these candidates to present their campaigns and promote themselves. Or, more obviously, for society to passive aggressively comment on it.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy reading or watching the interviews and seeing the campaign videos, but that's enough for me to see and make up my mind for who I am going to vote for. These never ending arguments between the Democratic and Republican voters become irrelevant in the long run, because what did they prove? Nothing. You just argued the fact of why you were going to vote for one candidate over another, and the person you are arguing with is still probably going to vote for who they planned. So nothing was accomplished, besides passive aggressive comments between someone you may or may not know that are shared with the media.
There are many friends, family members and co-workers, that are fueling these disagreements between each other for no reason. If you don't agree with their political views, then don't talk about politics. Just vote. When the time comes around, vote for who you believe will make the best President. Then move on, because that is how this is supposed to go.
If someone wants to post how they feel about the election, show their support for the candidate they plan on voting for, and share videos and articles about the potential presidential candidates, let them. No one needs to come bombarding in, saying that their opinion is wrong. People are attacking each other and creating so much hostility through every social media platform. Sarah Silverman posted a video on March 28th explaining about why she was voting for Bernie Sanders, but she did not tell you to vote for him. She promotes the concept of just voting, so you get your opinion out there.
The bottom line is the election is going to happen, and one of the candidates will be our next President. So please, just vote for who you believe in and support them, but do not attack someone through the social media just to prove your point. You're still going to vote for who you want, and they will vote for who they want to be the next president....
Unless they're voting for Donald Trump, then please, change their mind.
