Why Can't He Win

Why Can't He Win

So with the general election coming up in 2 months and it has been the most unique campaigning season ever and 1 in 4 Americans dislike both candidates . So if 35% of Americans favor Hillary, 28% favor Trump, and 25% do not favor either who is to say that a third party candidate can’t be competitive in this election. When asked Trump supporters will say a vote for Gary Johnson (the most popular of the 3rd parties) is a vote for Hillary, and Hillary supporters will say that a vote for Johnson is a vote for Trump. By that logic Johnson is a threat for both candidates. So let’s do a very basic rundown of the candidates’ views.

Donald Trump: recognizes Planned Parenthood helps great many a women, millions in fact, but it should still be defunded (let us remember that only 3% of what they do is abortions, the rest are STD testing and treatment, providing condoms, birth control, even helping a pregnancy along), he wants the government to refinance national debt and stick to debt limits, is against firing workers for being gay, doesn’t tolerate hate crimes against gays, but does not agree with gay marriage although he understands the Supreme Court made it official, wants to take the Confederate flag off state houses, first wanted 0% corporate tax, changed it to no more than 15%, for the death penalty, is for medical marijuana and the study of it, but wants recreational marijuana to be state by state, believes climate change is a hoax, thinks the government shouldn’t be allowed to profit from student loans, wants to raise minimum wage, and wants to censor the internet.

Hillary Clinton: Wants to support adoption and foster care agencies to reduce abortions but thinks women have the right to choose and sponsored emergency contraceptives for rape victims, wants to weed out systematic racism and fight for education for all women, include gender identity in anti-discrimination laws, also an advocate for death penalty although with restrictions, in support of medical marijuana, and wants to keep nonviolent drug users out of jail, wants debt free college education for students, wants to switch to green energy, and is in support of paid family leave.

Gary Johnson: Also thinks abortions are up to the woman, wants to cut federal budget by 43%, thinks that states have the right to fly the confederate flag, no workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation, created a business from scratch, wants to end double taxation, wants to reform laws to reduce number is prison but is against early release due to overcrowding, wants to legalize marijuana to stop the $70 billion being spent to fight it, wants the government to regulate mining and fracking, encourages father participation in child raising, wants the US to stay in the UN, but wants to stop foreign intervention, wants to raise social security age, and is against spying on US citizens.

Now to follow up no matter who wins there will still be checks and balances. None of the presidents choose the Supreme Court Justices, they nominate people and then Senate chooses, the president doesn’t make laws, they only veto or accept bills that already went through both Houses, although they can propose laws, the best thing to do in an election is to vote for who best matches your political views, even if they are third party because if everyone does that then it would be an equal and fair election, and Johnson is in the double digits for most polls (Jill Stein is on less ballots than Johnson is and has yet to break double digits which is why she was not included). And if you are that worried about wither Trump of Hillary winning but you want to vote third party look into being matched up with someone of the opposite party and you both vote for third party to keep the polls balanced.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
