Why Brothers Are So Important
Morgan Burroughs

Whether you have a little brother or big brother, you know they always have your back and are there to pick you up when you fall. A brother is there when you need someone to talk to. A brother is there with a caring hand to hold when you are frightened. They are your support system. They are there to help you succeed in life and are always there. They can be one phone call or text away.

I was blessed with two awesome brothers, Mason and Coburn. Although they get on my nerves at times, I would not replace them. Why, you may ask. It is because life would not be the same without my two brothers. Mason and Coburn have definitely made life interesting. For example, when I first came home from the hospital after my mouth surgery, I was pleasantly surprised with a little welcome-home celebration when I entered my room. Unfortunately, I was unable to enjoy it. But I was and still am extremely grateful for all the effort they made to welcome me back home. I will never forget that.

Now, it is not my intention to make this article all about my brothers. It is to shed light on the gift of having brothers in your life. Do not get me wrong; I sometimes wish that I had a sister, but you can never go wrong with having brothers as your siblings.

As I previously stated, brothers play multiple roles in your life. A brother is who you can always count on to have your back. Even when brothers annoy you to where you cannot even think straight, their love for you is unconditionally.

Brothers have multiple ways of having your back and that is an awesome feeling to know you have someone there to protect you.

A brother is always there if you need advice on anything. Whether it is about a college course that you should take or something in your life that you are struggling with, brothers will always give it to you straight, they won't sugarcoat it.

Support, love, and affection is another way that your brothers are there to protect you, especially their younger sisters. When another individual is picking on you or you are uncomfortable in the, it is good to know he will have something to say to them. It is basically in the "Rule Book of Brothers" that they are there to watch over you.

You know your brothers are genuine. You know that brothers will always be those people that you can count on and will be there when you need them to be. They love you unconditionally and you love them the same.

"Broth-er: a person who is there when you need him; someone who picks you up when you fall; a person who sticks up for you when no one else will; a brother is always a friend: -- Author Unknown.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
