Benghazi, Libya. If you are like I was a few months ago, you have no clue what this means and it has absolutely no effect on you. There’s a reason for that, but we’ll get into that later. The Wikipedia definition of the 2012 Benghazi Attack would be that it “took place on the evening of September 11, 2012, when Islamic militants attacked the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, killing U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and U.S. Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith… Several hours later, a second assault targeted a different compound about one mile away, killing CIA contractors Tyrone S. Woods and Glen Doherty. Ten others were also injured in the attacks.” Benghazi is so much more than just that, though. Watch the movie 13 Hours that was made about the attack by the men who survived it, scroll down the Wikipedia article, heck even just google Benghazi, and you will quickly find out that help from the US was requested numerous times before and during the attacks, but the requests were ignored. Even after Ambassador Chris Stevens and Sean Smith were murdered in the first attack and the second attack was just beginning, help was not sent to these Americans.

Let’s back up, though. Ambassador Stevens requested help be sent to to Libya earlier that day. The last thing written in his journal is “Never ending security threats…” Does that sound like someone who was attacked out of the blue? No. He knew that something terrible was about to happen and he had been requesting stronger security, since before he even left US soil. Continue on though, the soldiers staying at the CIA annex who went to defend the Ambassador were technically not even allowed to be going to help, despite that Stevens and his two men begging for help were all that could be heard on the radios at the CIA annex. These soldiers risked their own lives without even being required, to go and try to save their fellow Americans. Later that night, these same soldiers then defended off the CIA annex and saved all of the Americans inside. Two brave American soldiers, lost their lives protecting the people in the annex, though. Do you think at any point during this hellacious night, these Americans stopped begging and pleading for help? NO. N. O. NO. These people could not even be allowed a military plane to flyover the annex, just to put the fear of God & the United States of America into these heartless terrorist bastards.

Before I continue on, let it be known I am refraining from including my personal political opinions in this article. This is solely the opinion of an outraged American so I’m going to refrain from using the name of the person who was Secretary of State at the time. This person is the one who denied Ambassador Stevens more security before he left the US. This person is the one who ignored his requests for more security on the days leading up to and the day of the attack. THIS PERSON IS THE ONE WHO DID NOT SEND HELP TO THESE AMERICANS WHILE THEY WERE BEING ATTACKED. Let that resonate for a moment… The Secretary of State’s job was and is to protect not just these people, but so many others around the world. THIS SECRETARY OF STATE FAILED. If you don't agree with me, why don't you ask the four Americans killed in Benghazi if they did their duties as Secretary of State. Oh, that’s right. YOU CAN’T. Because of the Secretary’s failed judgement and what I view as a lack of care for American security, four American families will never see their loved ones again. Can you fathom losing your loved one in a situation that one of our head government officials had the opportunity to prevent? To make matters worse though, this person then lied to the grieving families about the cause of these attacks. THEN. When it was brought up during the hearing of this case about the cause of these attacks, the United State’s Secretary of State replied with “Was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk one night and decided they'd go kill some Americans? ... At this point, what difference does it make?” REALLY?? I’m sure Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Tyrone S. Woods, and Glen Doherty would love to tell you what difference it makes. The threat of this attack had been looming for days, possibly even weeks. Not only that, once this attack began it still seemed to not be a problem to our US government. I’ll leave it up to you to decide how this makes you feel and if you care to know who the monstrous Secretary of State was that did this.

Regardless of how you feel about this or what you think of it, keep these families who lost their loved ones and the people of Libya in your prayers. This tragedy should not be swept under the rug. Don’t let this be swept under the rug. #BenghaziMatters

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
