Why Believing In Something Creates Purpose

Always find something to believe in

Oftentimes we think to ourselves, "Why are we here?" That is the question we all desire to know the absolute answer to. Though it is complex to answer it, personally, I know we are here for something. Like all things have a purpose in the world, we as beings have a purpose too.

We just need to find it. But then comes another complex question, "how?" well, I don't really know how. But one tool I use when searching for my purpose is to believe in something. Two quotes of which I live by when talking about this is one I wrote and one my father tells me all the time.:

"There has got to be a reason as to why something so temporary as life, was even made in the first place." -Me

"If you have nothing to live for, borrow $5, the repayment will create purpose along the way." -My dad.

See when we are down in the dumps not knowing what to do or where to go, our minds act as a blur. We know what we want we just can't see it. We feel a sense of loss in our spirits and we find that in that nothingness, we probably have no purpose.

But it is in that moment where out of nowhere a path gets created. Whether it is something someone told you, or a movie you remember watching where a scene reminded you of this very moment you are in or billboard you saw driving on your way home. Literally, anything can clear that blurry, foggy state mind you are in.

Now the next step is building your belief back. Whether it be subjective or objective, the point here is to find something. Remember that dream you left behind a few years ago? That play you wanted to get the lead in? That sports team you wanted to try out for?

That city you want to visit? Yes, these are all limited beliefs but they create a path for you to follow. And in that path, little things await you to discover. A new purpose will start to form to get you to your ultimate purpose. There is something out there waiting for you. It literally just takes you one thought from the past to start clearing that fog. Never believe that you have nothing to do here.

There is always something out there for you. Now go, that dream you just thought about while reading this is waiting for you and who knows maybe other things are waiting for you too, you just have to walk that path. It's the only way to find out.

Good luck on your journey.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
