9 Reasons Why 2007 Wasn't So Bad

2007, where do I even begin? Most people remember 2007 as one of the worst times in their life, some chose not to remember 2007 at all. I'm not sure what happened, but 2007 was just a very different time in history, for everyone. Though, in my opinion, no matter what anyone says 2007 was a fantastic year.

So get ready for a cringe-worthy nostalgia fest, because, in no particular order, here are just nine reasons why 2007 was actually a great year:

1. The iPhone

That's right ladies and gentleman, 2007 brought us our first iPhone! The Generation 1 iPhone was released on June 29, 2007, and it changed the world. Status was no longer about who had the thinnest Razr. The iPhone was where it was at. This phone was part phone, part MP3, part computer, all awesome. Just think about how far we've come from the release of this phone!

2. Myspace

In 2007, it was still socially acceptable to use Myspace. Who didn't love Myspace? Myspace was the outlet for our self-expression. 100 percent customizable, Myspace was truly the place we could go to be ourselves. It was a world with which we had the freedom to do whatever we wanted, and we could put music on our profiles!

I remember at one point my Myspace had a black and white polka-dot layout, my profile picture was the hot-light from Krispy Kreme, and I edited my profile so that it would rain donuts on the screen…amazing right?!

And how can we forget our "Top Friends," also known as Myspace's nifty way for us to show people who we cared about the most at the time, and sever ties with others at the same time. Remember making the boy/girl you were talking to your number one friend? And how could I not mention the friend that everyone had, but nobody wanted…

Good ol' Tom. Wonder what he's up to now…

3. The "Best of Both Worlds" Tour

In 2007 America's Sweetheart, Miley Cyrus, launched her "Best of Both Worlds" tour. Our two favorite girls were on tour together! What wasn't to love about this? This was the start of Miley performing as herself away from Hannah. We were all living for this, don't kid yourself.

4. High School Musical 2

What time is it? Whether you were a pre-teen, or anywhere near one, it was High School Musical time! On August 17th, 2007, High School Musical 2 was released and it was the event we'd been waiting for all summer. We finally got our fix, and who remembers voting which Disney Channel star we wanted to make a cameo?

Sure enough, we voted for our girl Miley!

5. Britney Spears

Nobody can forget Britney's 2007 meltdown. In 2007, Britney Spears went a little crazy and reminded us that we were perfectly normal. I like to think back to this time in her life when I am troubled. Remember, if Britney Spears can make it through 2007, you can make it through anything!

Let's not forget Chris Crocker telling us to leave her alone.

6. "Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows"

In 2007, we were given the last installment of the Harry Potter series. I mean, what else is there to even say about that? It's Harry Potter!

7. Transformers

In 2007, our dreams came to fruition. We got to see Transformers brought to life on the big screen, and it was just as epic as you could imagine. Autobots, Decepticons, all battling it out in live-action. Transformers was definitely a game-changer and one of the best movies ever released.

8. Peter Parker's Emo/Scene Phase

In 2007 "Spiderman 3" showed us that no one was safe from the scene phase, not even our beloved Peter Parker, and I'm sure he doesn't want to talk about it either.

9. The Music

Am I throwing you off? Nope? Didn't think so.

2007 was a great year for music. It was so diverse. It was LIT!

So for my final point of why 2007 was a great year get out your spottily or sound cloud app because I am going to leave you with a track list of some of our favorite songs of the year:

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
