Ever since I was little I always loved to play pretend with my friends. Being someone else for a day always seemed more appealing than my actual life. I had a pretty decent childhood filled with loving and caring family and friends, but there’s always that “what if” thought lingering in the back of your mind. What if I was this person or that person? It really makes you think how different your life could be.
Celebrities.
I always chose to pretend that I was a celebrity. I mean why not choose someone who is popular and has money to do whatever, whenever they want to. Imagine being able to go to anywhere in the world. Money would never be a problem. The only aspect that would hinder your desires would be time. I always picked an extremely wealthy celebrity, but with that come consequences like sacrificing your time for what you want to do and having to do what you need to first.
Instead of just thinking of the fantasy, when I was younger, I would think of every aspect that would go along with living that particular life. I would usually keep it simple and pick someone who was single and didn’t have any kids. I would go so in depth with my fantasy that I would forget I was imagining the whole thing. I could be wrapped in a story for hours. I would plan out my life; who would I marry or how many kids would I have? It was even more exciting when my friends would join, which is usually how it all started.
Consequences.
Even though pretending to be a celebrity is cool, if you really think about their life, it isn’t that desirable. They are constantly in the public eye and privacy barely exists for them. Some, depending on how valuable they are, can never be left alone and must always travel with protection. After all the time they spend away from home working, money doesn’t really make up for it.
If kids and a spouse were added to the equation imagine how hectic that would be. Having a family is a beautiful thing, but their lives will never be normal because of whom they are connected to. Celebrity babies, nowadays, end up needing medical attention because growing up was so hectic that they think the only way to handle situations is to self-medicate. I’m not saying all celeb kids end up in that exact circumstance, but the chances of teens looking to drugs as a way out starts with immense stress; being part of a celebrity family has nothing but stress in some cases.
Always want to be you.
So who I would be for a day and every day? Myself. Everyone has situations that don’t want to be a part of or problems that don’t want to deal with. It doesn’t matter if you’re you or someone you want to be; there’s always going to be something you want that you can’t have and money can’t buy everything in this world. No one on this planet lives a perfect life. Be happy with the life you have despite the drawbacks.
