10 Signs You're Doing Well In Life

There is so much pressure in our lives today from every source. Whether it's school or work or family life, we all face successes and failures, but I have met far too many people who get hung up on their small day-to-day problems. But, here's the thing: we are all failures before we are winners and even when we become winners we will still occasionally fail. That doesn't mean your life is over. One thing I have learned is that life is like beauty; it is in the eye of the beholder. What one person sees as failure another might see as an opportunity. If you look at your failures as opportunities rather than tragedies you will always be able to get back up.

Changing your perception of life is easier said than done, but then again, so is everything.

So, without any further ado, and in no particular order, here are ten of the many signs that you are doing great in life. Even if only one of these signs applies to you, that is reason enough to continue fighting the hurdles in your life and keep moving forward!

1. You’re alive!

Yes! After all the problems, all your broken bones and the cracked up heart you have, you are alive! Despite all the trials and tribulations in your life, you're still going on. I recently heard of Dr. Frankl, who was a prisoner at Auschwitz concentration camp during the Holocaust. Despite this horrible situation and everything he went through, he was still able to find the silver lining.

Check out the video below for a bit of inspiration from Dr. Fankl:

2. You have a roof over your head.

It may seem like something small, but think of all those people who don't have a place to go when it is freezing or when it's raining.

Did you know?

On a single night in January 2013, there were 610,042 people experiencing homelessness in the United States, including 394,698 people who were homeless in sheltered locations and 215,344 people who were living in unsheltered locations. HUD

Before you go to sleep and you're looking up at the ceiling, think about this and be grateful. You could've had it worse.

3. You dream big!

Our world was created by dreamers. You have to dream before you start to achieve. Some of the greatest minds in the world came up with their best ideas through their dreams. So keep dreaming and don't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling.

4. You see your flaws and work to improve them.

Accepting your flaws is one of the hardest things to do. Working to improve them is even harder! Life gets hard and sometimes it is not because of anyone else, rather you yourself.

If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else. It will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them. -Bruce Lee

Bruce says the truth. Maybe you feel like you’re stuck on a plateau, but just being conscious of that fact is a big deal. It means you know a change needs to happen, and perhaps because of that realization you will create that necessary change!

5. You are loved.

Very few feelings surpass the safety and pleasure you feel when you are loved. Whether it is the love of family, friends, or significant others, love has always been the biggest strength and weakness for humans. Cherish these moments and thank these people for being in your life. And remember: never take these relationships for granted.

6. You have food to eat.

Yes, that's a big sign. Some people don't have food to eat, don't have the money to buy food to eat, or don't have a place to make food to eat. We're always so eager and so ready to go buy ourselves food and, often, we don't have to worry about whether or not we'll have something to eat before we sleep. If you have food to eat you know you are doing something well in life.

7. You are forgiving.

It's a blessing to let go of things people have done to you/are doing to you and smile at the same person who hurt you. It's definitely one of the hardest things to do, but forgiveness is one of life's most important lessons. When you forgive others you are able to live in more peace. Holding anger and hatred for someone is honestly so much work and takes up so much emotion it's so much easier to let it go. To each his own. Also, don't forget to forgive yourself. We are all human.

Holding onto anger, resentment and hurt only gives you tense muscles, a headache and a sore jaw from clenching your teeth. Forgiveness gives you back the laughter and the lightness in your life. -Joan Lunden

8. You have time to do something you enjoy.

Even if “what you enjoy” is sleeping, watching movies, or even sitting in the park. Some people don't even have that.

And if you don't have this, try to squeeze it in some place in your busy life. Either on the ride home or before you go to bed.

9. You are genuine.

Oscar Wilde once said: "Be yourself; everyone else is already taken."

Staying genuine in a society where people are full of facades is a big blessing. With so much false advertisement and media, it can be difficult. If you know who you are, what you want in life, and you refuse to sell part of yourself for any type of gain, be grateful. So many people don't even know who they are or what they stand for regardless of everything they have.

10. You’re working toward a goal.

You're motivated and you've got something to achieve. Forget about the fact that you’re exhausted; forget the fact that it feels like it's miles away. You've got a treasure box waiting for you on top of a mountain and you're trying to achieve it, and that is the beginning and that is amazing!

The general idea is this: Be happy with what you have and what you are doing because no matter how bad you have it, there is always someone who is doing far worse than you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
