Who Are We Becoming?

No matter who is President, I promise you that Jesus is still King.

I am so sick and tired of all of the hate due to the Presidential Election. I know that people are upset that Trump is going to be President. Does criticizing his supporters change that fact though? Blaming others does not fix the problem. Slowly our Country is dividing and the problem does not lie with the government. The problem lies with the PEOPLE. Each and every person who is criticizing others for their support on either candidate is the problem. They are the reason our Country is dividing.

I, personally, do not agree with either of the candidates we were given. They both had so many issues and I cannot believe that they were the two we had to choose from, but they were our choices. America chose Donald Trump. I am scared and worried about our future, but I cannot change what has occurred. Instead of rioting, how about praying? No matter who is President, I promise you that Jesus is still King. Jesus still sits on His throne and nothing will change that.

I am beyond pissed that people are burning the America flag. You have to be 18 years old to vote. Did maturity skip these adults? The men and women who fought and/or fight for our freedom do not deserve your blatant disrespect. You are not hurting Trump by burning our flag, you are hurting those families that lost their loved ones who fought for our freedom. You are hurting those who are now disabled due to them serving their country. Men and women put their lives on the line everyday for idiots who do not deserve it. If you do not like or care for America anymore, then please do us all a favor and LEAVE.

I have friends that voted for Clinton and friends that voted for Trump. I refuse to throw away our friendship because of who they voted for and their opinions. We are all entitled to our opinions. In the words of one of my favorite teachers, "This has become the United States of the Offended." America is supposedly built on diversity but the second someone disagrees with you, you feel offended.

Some people will probably be extremely upset with me for this article. Yes I am white. That means nothing to me. I have friends of all races, religions, and beliefs. I love every single one of them. I would do anything for any of them which includes taking in their opinions without being offended. Donald Trump may very well be a racist pig. He probably is and I do fear for those I love, but there is nothing I can do about it now. Yelling, screaming, and rioting will not change anything. The only thing that I can count on is the promise of God. I can pray to God to give Donald Trump guidance on how to run our Country. I pray for his heart and I pray for America. Why do I pray? I pray because I am a mature young adult who knows that acting like an idiot will NOT do anything for me.

Please do not throw up the fact that I can say all of this because I am white. I KNOW I AM WHITE. I cannot help my race at all. It is not my fault that I am white. Anyone who knows me well enough knows that I am not racist or judgmental in anyway. I love everyone and that is why I hit my knees and pray. Try it. God can make miracles happen.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
