More reasons why the metalcore genre is more than just what's on the surface.

11 Truthful Lyrics By 'While She Sleeps'

Metalcore, post-hardcore, and any genre of the like containing screams of any sort are misunderstood genres as people generally take the music at face value; simply what is (or isn't...) heard, not looking into the actual lyrics and meanings behind the scratchy growls, piercing squeals, and melodic harmonies. While She Sleeps is a metalcore band hailing from Sheffield, England who has been producing albums since 2010 and is impending a release of their newest album, You Are We, set to release April of this year. After hearing their latest single, Silence Speaks, from the upcoming album, I became re-obsessed with this band and was inspired to share ten lyrics that really stand out to me; lyrics that are truthful; lyrics that prove that metalcore is more than simply what is on the surface.

1. "For freedom of speech, there’s not much to be said; cut off your tongue and stand instead." (Your Evolution, 2015)

2. "From hospitals to honesty and everything that you need of me, I'll be there; my inspiration, my guidance, my home...I will look up to the stars, so you will forever see, the best part of you still lives in me." (Our Courage, Our Cancer, 2012)

3. "We're fighting fighting with fighting; our unity is divided; this is the system declining on us." (New World Torture, 2015)

4. "It's like raking dead leaves in the wind; it's like saints living life without sins; it's like digging our graves in the sand." (You Are We, 2017)

5. "If you want words to live your life by, walk the graves, walk the graves; it's written on the headstones." (Our Legacy, 2015)

6. "I think the silence speaks volumes." (Silence Speaks, 2017)

7. "Walk the rope, walk the rope, from everything to nothing; hope you know, hope you know, this music is our therapy; a song for those who never give up until we're ashes or dust." (Life In Tension, 2015)

8. "Are we too blind to see through honest eyes? War will cease when we refuse to fight. Tell me where is your heart?" (Silence Speaks, 2017)

9. "And after all the pain they inflict, we have no blood but we have a purpose." (Be[Lie]ve, 2012)

10. "Don't take your time for granted; don't chase your life away; it's not coming back." (No Sides, No Enemies, 2015)

11. "I hope your god can save you as your devil leads the way." (You Are We, 2017)

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
