It’s no secret: I love cycling. Sometimes called spinning, cycling, or riding the stationary bike, this is my absolute favorite way to exercise. I first discovered cycling as an angst-filled teenager at my gym, and realized that it was an amazing way to burn off my extra steam. Cycling combined two of the most important elements of my life—exercise and loud music.
Just as I was discovering cycling, the industry began to take off with specialty cycling studios popping up everywhere trying to compete with SoulCycle. While I have never been to SoulCycle, (it’s on the bucket list) I have cycled a lot in the past five years. In the past month, I have had a resurgence of my life for it, and have been going on a binge, testing out all the local studios in Dallas. All three studios provided me with workouts that left me feeling stronger, more fit, and inspired. So basically, everyone should get out there and try it out!
- Lync Studio: This was the first studio I went to here in Dallas. It is a small studio located in Snider Plaza, but it makes up for the cramped lobby with amazing instructors and killer music. I felt like the energy was the highest in this studio, as most of the instructors and riders were younger and very energized. This is not the fanciest studio, and definitely had the most limited facilities. However, if you just want a hard work out and leave feeling centered and amazing about your body, this is the place to be.
- The Ride House: This was the most recent cycling studio I tried out, and I thought that while it was not a poor experience, it was just middle of the line. I thought that the visuals in this studio were very cool, and the cool towels at the end of the class were very refreshing, but it was not an incredible experience.
- Zyn22: There was a lot of hype surrounding this studio, but the truth is I was slightly disappointed by it solely because I didn’t think it was as intense of a workout as some of the other cycling classes I have attended. This could have just been the one instructor I had, but I found their shoes the most difficult to clip in and left feeling underwhelmed by the experience. With that said, the facilities were the nicest of the three by far. They had a huge locker room and a very nice showering facility that I regret not using. This studio would be ideal for people who want a very pampering and spa like experience.
