When The TriDelta Spirit Runs Through Your Head

How do you start an essay about your whole family, your home away from home? How do you even begin to explain a sisterhood so strong and so tight?

I guess I can start from the beginning.

During my recruitment experience, I met hundreds of happy, friendly girls down the row. While I enjoyed parties at several different houses and clicked with more than one type of personality, there was something awesomely different about the place I would soon call home.

Everyone tells you that you’ll find your fit and your fit will find you, and it’s true! All of rush week I knew in my heart I wanted to be a TriDelta, but there were more than one instances in which that feeling only grew.

As a chapter, LSU TriDelt strives for the best. We strive to fundraise, socialize, and support as best we can.

One of the coolest parts of our chapter is the diversity amongst us. We come all walks of life, all personalities, and all kinds of families. What bonds and blends the mix together is our shared desire to support each other. And not just support our sisters, but our friends down the row, our families, our school, our community, and beyond. We share a love for supporting the children and families at our dedicated philanthropy, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. During the 2014-2015 school year, the Delta Omega chapter raised an unprecedented $154,000 and won the Chapter of the Year award. In addition to individual and smaller scale fundraisers, our chapter hosts annual, such as the St. Jude Soiree, Delta Desserts and Sincerely Yours. The events include yummy food, cool pop-up boutiques, live bands, awesome raffles, and all of your friends and family.

TriDelt at LSU also takes pride in how talented and multi-skilled our members are. We compete, along with the other very talented sororities and fraternities at LSU, in events like Homecoming Pomping decorations, Step Show and Song Fest. This past year, DDD won first place Homecoming Lawn Décor as well as first place at Song Fest with our partners TKE and Phi Psi. The theme was 80’s Prom, and the girls rocked a mash up of fun songs and even a Dirty Dancing lift!

Alumni are very important the Delta Omega chapter, and they are involved and invited to everything possible. They guide and support the decisions of the chapter and the girls, as well as share in the love of fundraising and growing as women and sisters.

If you want to check out the group of girls that I have come to love and call my second family, please check out our Facebook page, our Instagram, our website, and/or our Tumblr!

XOXO and happy Recruitment season

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
