When Times Get Tough

When I am stuck between a rock and a hard place, I turn to you.

When Times Get Tough

Life has its ups and downs. But without the lows we would not appreciate the highs, and we would not need our friends and family to catch us when we fall. When times get tough I turn to the many wonderful people I have been lucky enough to know.

When times get tough I turn to you for reason. I see how far you have come and it is truly inspiring. Your independence and confidence is something I wish I could characterize with. You are the first person I call and I know you will always be there to pick up. You give me insight and talk me through the issue to find the conclusion I am needing and wanting, without swaying me with your own opinions. But you are not afraid to share those with me, good or bad. I appreciate the truth and know weeks could go by but a coffee date is all me need to be right back to where we were.

When times get tough I turn to you for understanding. You are probably the friend that has been there for me the longest. We had out runs of “break ups and make ups” through high school but I know I can always count on you. Whatever I am going through you seem to always have the answers. We sometimes are too alike and it kind of freaks me out but I also love it. We have had to go through a lot of similar hardships and although that is not something I would ever wish, I am grateful. This is only because we can always count on at least one person understand what it is like to walk in our shoes, someone who can always relate.

When times get tough I turn to you to for energy. I envy you for your optimism and your outgoing qualities. Everyone you meet is instantly full of life, and you turn heads wherever we go. You make me step out of my comfort zone and let me be me. When I want to have a good time to forget about my troubles I know I can turn to you to vent or just get my mind off everything. You make life more interesting and keep me on my toes. I know if I ever want an adventure or a shoulder to lean on I can look to you.

When times get tough I turn to you for comfort. I love how we can be so happy even just sitting doing nothing for hours. I have never felt so comfortable yet challenged around anyone else in my life. You allow me to completely relax and not think about anything, even if it is just for a few hours. When I am sad or angry you allow me just to talk and give me a new outlook on the situation, although I do not like to hear it sometimes, I appreciate it. I know you really listen and try to understand the situation and want to just give me a new perspective to move forward. You bring me genuine happiness and have taught me so much.

When times get tough I turn to you for positivity. You are like a legitimate ray of sunshine. I do not think I have ever seen you truly frown. When I am sad I know I can talk to you and everything will just seem to be okay. You are one of the most loyal friends I have and the best thing that came out of a bad situation. I know you have struggled a lot and you have your own problems but when I need you, you do not hesitate for a second to take care of me. I cannot thank you enough for showing me I mean something and that no matter what I will always have at least one person to lean on.

When times get tough I turn to you for guidance. Although your friendship is something that has not been that long-lived yet, I do not know what I did without you beforehand. You have guided me through and walked along my side through something bigger than the both of us. You have helped show me what the love God has for us can do and the power of prayer. Not only this, but you are someone I can always count on to help me or go on late night food runs. I know you were brought in my life to make be grow as a Christian and as a woman, and that means so much to me.

When times get tough I turn to you for a laugh. Man, I do not even know where to start with you. You boys are the light of my life. We have had a long run and even though we do not get to see each other as much as I would like, I know we can always pick up where we left off. We have had our rocky patches, but I know we will always come together because our friendship is always something to fight for. You bring me so much joy and I do not think I have laughed until my stomach hurt with anyone else. I appreciate your kindness and care you give to me and that you are up for anything. You all have gone and have become such great guys and I am proud to call you my friends. You are all going to move on to do great things and I cannot wait to see that.

When times get tough I turn to you for an open ear. We met in an interesting way, and after being “long distance” best friends for so long we finally got to see our friendship flourish. You have such a big heart and I know you never take anything for granted. You love with everything you have and I look up to that. I know you will always be there to talk whenever I need someone to just go over things with me. I appreciate the time you put into our friendship although I know how busy you are.

To the people I turn to when going through a rough patch, thank you. I love you and I would not be where I am today without you. I appreciate everything you have done for me and I hope our future holds so much more.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
