We've all been there. Should I stay? Should I go? What happens after I make my decision? Why are these my only options? Is it what's best for me?
I had my heart broken by a guy that wasn't even mine and never pretended he wanted to be. I was 16 and in a rough part of my life. Now, I'm not going to to go into detail, because then where's the mystery in that?
I needed something, anything to hold onto. So, apparently I chose him. But the thing was, he never chose me. After a little more than two years, I finally decided to give up on trying to be anything with him: friends, more than friends, acquaintances, just anything, It took me a long time to be okay with giving up, but now I'm happy with myself and what is going on in my life.
1.) Give up if you're always the one starting the conversation.
2.) Give up if you are the one that obviously cares more.
3.) Give up when all you want to do is cry whenever you think about them.
4.) Give up if you want to drown yourself in a bottle of vodka every damn time you think of them.
5.) Give up when the memories are better than what's actually happening.
6.) Give up when they no longer care if they hurt you or not.
7.) Give up when every little thing reminds you of them, but they can't think of on thing that reminds them of you.
8.) Give up if your music taste changes from happy, fun, energetic to sad, drunk songs about wanting to forget everything.
9.) Give up if you're always trying to find a way to escape them or the thought of them.
10.) Give up when every person in your life is telling you how sad you seem lately.
11.) Give up when 95% of your sadness is because of them.
12.) Give up when you notice yourself start to build walls around you so you don't get hurt again.
13.) Give up if you've given your all and received nothing in return.
14.) Give up when you find yourself always wanting to write about how sad you are.
15.) Give up when you no longer feel like you're the same person you were before you met them.
Once you've given your all to someone and they don't seem to care, it can seem like it's your fault. It's not. It's their fault for not realizing what an amazing, talented, wonderful person you are.
Don't hold onto them. It is 100% okay to give up on them to protect yourself from getting hurt anymore than you already are. Sometimes, people just can't be changed.
Everyone knows when they've had enough and what they deserve. When the time comes to give up don't fight it. Recognize that it is a light at the end of the tunnel and embrace it.
