Sometimes, you'll be feeling at an all-time high in your life, and suddenly, your feelings become extremely reversed. You have no idea how you got into the predicament that you're in. Suddenly, you want to sleep for hours or not sleep a wink, and you want to cry all day or feel nothing at all.

Depression comes in many emotions and forms, but it all makes us separate ourselves from the rest of the world the same.

The easiest thing to do when the depression kicks in is to try to shut everyone out and stop caring about other people because how you feel is the lowest of the low. If you don't feel like anyone in your life cares about what you're going through, then you're probably just not telling them the truth or you seriously need some new people in your life.

Instead of bottling up your emotions, you should find a way to let them free. If someone said something that upset you, try to talk about it instead of letting it eat you inside.

Maybe even seek the help of a therapist if you truly feel that you can't trust anyone around you. There are tons of free counseling services, you just have to put in the work to find them.

DO NOT give up on the things that you love because you feel that they've taken too much of your time. You have to remember that these are the things that clear your head when you're feeling ready to give up. Remember, if you loved playing that sport before you were feeling down, then it'll probably make you feel better after trying again.

If you are going through something and notice that someone else is having trouble with their mental health at the same time, do not try and bring them down if they're trying to overcome it. Don't be someone else's anchor when they're just starting to tread their own waters.

Do not bleach your hair, ladies! We know that you're most likely going platinum blonde because you don't want to talk about your feelings, so please please please talk about your feelings. Don't take it out on your beautiful hair.

Never ever try to overcome this battle alone, either. It is almost impossible to fight depression with just yourself. You need a support system, people in your life who will help you when you start to get bad again. Getting bad again is probably going to happen on and off for the rest of your life, so just try to find people to be there for when it does happen.

The worst thing you can do with depression is let it become you. You are not your depression, you are YOU. You decide what is your story.

Don't let depression be your main storyline. Just accept it as a part of the story.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
