To kick today up a notch, wake up this morning and choose not to believe you’re a broke, stressed out, college student but instead believe you’re a hot young thing who’s the boss of their own life. You dress for success, walk with purpose, engage in conversations, make decisions like millions of dollars depend on it, and don’t take no for an answer. Because here’s the trick: changing how you think and acting how you want to feel sets you up to turn a simple life into a fabulous one.

It’s time to take a closer look at how we perceive who we are and who we want to become because what we choose to think becomes the truth regardless of reality. If we think we’re a super star, we act like it. If we think we’re a fat loser who will end up alone with 800 cats, we act like it. We don’t realize how much our own opinions about who we are affect our behavior. And not only does it affect how we treat ourselves, but how we allow others to treat us. If we continue to believe that we’re unworthy, can’t have it all, will never land a job, or might remain single forever we consciously or subconsciously shut ourselves off from possibilities--and a better/happier life!

It’s crazy how much what you choose to believe can affect how fabulous of a life you live. It’s as simple as waking up in the morning believing that you have the power to make what you want happen. I promise you’ll be surprised with how much your productivity changes. You might have to get creative and walk on the treadmill while reading for class, send an email while waiting for a meeting to start, or dance around your kitchen while your make lunch because you can’t give up fun for busy.

So stop believing that the life you lead right now has to be your reality. Say to the world, ‘I love myself and am going to choose when to love, who to love, and what to love when I’m ready’. You might decide to carry on living the same life but your perception changes and you’ve taken control. Mentality switched, attitude lifted and you gain some serious ‘I am in charge of my own life’ empowerment. Let me repeat this one more time: the way you choose to perceive yourself and the future, as well as the words you use to describe them, matter. It will either break or blossom who you are.

Peace, love, and don’t forget to vote on Tuesday!

Xoxo

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
