Spring is in the air. The birds are chirping, the days last longer, and the school year is slowly, but surely winding down. There are so many wonderful things that come along with this time of year- flowers blooming, sun shinning, shorts-wearing. But Long Islanders know that the real reason spring is so great is because it means Ralph's Italian ices opens once again. Our cravings for the delicious, sweet treat will finally be satisfied and all will, once again, be right in the world. By this time in your life you should have your order down pat (I always go for a small Red Velvet). You can always tell a non-native by seeing if it takes them more than 15 seconds to place their order. So what does your go-to Ralph's flavor say about you?

Blue Hawaii

You don't like change. This is the flavor everyone got in 5th grade when everyone loved blue raspberry anything and you haven't changed since. While your friends have grown and experimented with new flavors, you refuse to leave behind your tired and true blue friend, no matter how many blue tongues it may leave behind. Creds to you for your dedication and reliability.

Cookies 'N Cream

You're like to stick to what you know. You know you like Cookies 'N Cream regular ice cream so you figure this must be pretty much the same. You don't feel like exerting the energy to trying out new flavors. You've toyed with the idea of trying a flavor that they don't make regular ice cream in, but then you chickened out.

Peanut Butter Candy Bar Fudge

You're super sweet and have a ton of energy. You have got a major sweet tooth that can only be satisfied by this conception of peanut butter, candy, and fudge, and you probably get hot fudge on top for good measure. You realize that trying to be health conscious at Ralph's is like trying to be a vegetarian at a BBQ- it just doesn't work. Kudos to you for going all out my friend.

Iced Tea

You're mature. You don't want all that sugary crap. You like to keep it simple with a frozen version of this very "Mom-like" drink. While you could probably make this at home by just putting a pitcher if iced tea in the freezer and then blending it, somehow Ralph's just does it better.

Vanilla Chip

You are the definition of plain Jane. The unknown frightens you and too many flavors at once just confuses you. With the vanilla ice you can be sure you won't embarrass yourself by getting chocolate all over your face and the chips give you just a teensy bit of flavor, but that's all you need. You ooze class.

Birthday Cake

You are a child at heart. When you bake, you end up eating more of the batter than you actually put into the oven. You love the sweetness of Birthday Cake and the colorful sprinkles in it make it a thousand times better. You're the life of the party and never stop laughing.

Rainbow

You're a true patriot. The 4th of July is your favorite holiday, and you use any excuse to wear your American flag shorts. Even though it may not be the most flavorful, you would consider it an act of treason if you didn't order this Red, White, and Blue classic ice. We need more citizens like you, my friend.

Stop drooling onto your keyboard and go get yourself some Ralph's!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
