Everyone is always so excited to turn 21. There is so much more freedom with turning 21: you're finally going to be able to drink, you are finally considered a legal adult, and so much more, but really just the drinking part.
I, myself, have just turned 21, so I decided that I would let my fellow 20-year-old people know what to expect the night they turn 21.
1. The night of.
Waking up and realizing that tonight is the night you've been waiting for your entire life.
2. Getting ready.
Getting ready for the big night is a fun time chilling with your friends, who only hype you up even more.
3. Going to dinner.
Going out to eat with your friends or family just to have a few drinks and get something in your stomach so you don't get too wasted too quickly. A heavy meal will go a long way for the long night that awaits you.
4. Being asked if you're actually 21.
It won't be the first or last time that someone asks you that question that night... or for the next couple of days either.
5. First legal drink.
That first drink will feel...like every other drink you've had before. But at least this time you're legal.
6. The challenges.
Everyone wants to get so many things accomplished in that night. Just remember that no matter how many things you are able to accomplish, get documentation so you can remember doing it.
7. The moment you realize you drank too much.
That one shot or one drink that takes you from being wasted to blackout drunk.
8. Getting home.
Stumbling all over the place or trying to find a taxi to take you home or hopefully having a friend there to drive you home. Just get home safely.
9. The next morning.
Waking up because you have a killer headache, you can't eat anything, and you're nauseous from just sitting up in bed...
10. Having no regrets.
...but you have no regrets. You wouldn't have wanted to spend that time with anyone else or wouldn't have changed those memories for anything else because it was the best night you won't remember.
11. Drink responsibly.
Even though it is your 21st birthday, that does not mean you have to drink yourself into oblivion. Just remember, tonight is a celebration about you, you're going to want to remember it later in life. So drink responsibly and never drink and drive.
