Wheather it's depression, anxiety, ADHD, ADD, or any type of mental ilness, it wont always be visible to you. Just because there are no physicall signs dosen't mean that girl isn't diagnosed. And this is what she wants you to understand:
You expect her to be strong.
Well I'm here to tell you, you've go it all wrong.
She's walking down a road on this journey called life
And there is no doubt there is going to be grief and strife.
Though it's going to be beautiful in many ways
she's just got to cry some days.
So, don't tell her she's weak,
when she's down and her days are bleak.
She could be happy or she could be upset.
And even sometimes she can be content.
She is resilient you see.
That's someone she can be.
But don't expect her to always be strong.
That my friend, is where you've got it all wrong.
But there will always be that tiny voice in the back of her mind,
telling her that she's a failure. Worthless.Pathetic.
And the worst thing is, she thinks it's all right.
It's very dangerous to leave her alone with her thoughts.
She sits in her room alone in the corner listening to her thoughts over and over.
She thinks, "Why me? Did I do something wrong?"
She isn't OK. She lies to her mom.
She is in tears now, trickling down her cheeks.
She plays a scene when they call her a freak.
"I'm not good enough so why am I still here? Nobody loves me, nobody cares."
So she sits there alone for a couple of hours.
Until she hears the door open, it was her father.
She puts a smile on her face, no trace of mistakes.
She says, "Hey daddy. How was your day?"
And she's just a simple girl in a complex land.
Telling her story, just another hand.
She's got a mind, soul, and heart.
All of which could tear her apart.
Maybe it isn't a girl, maybe it's that boy you sit next to in class or that boy you saw crossing the street. No matter the gender, no matter the age, this is what you should understand.
