Summer is finally here! But when you slip on your shorts and tank top you cannot help but notice how pale you are from the winter months. But then you just shrug your shoulders because you have been pale since the day you were born and it has not really changed.
Being chronically pale during the summer when everyone else is soaking up the rays and turning golden brown is not fun. You constantly wonder why you did not inherit the olive Italian skin your sister did and why your skin goes red and not tan when you step out into the sun. Some people just do not understand the struggle of getting a sun-kissed glow and some of the lengths pale people will go to.
Tanning Beds
Now while these freak me out they are very popular for anyone who wants to get a tan and wants one fast. The use is popular among high school students who are getting ready for prom and graduation. However there is the risk of skin cancer and future damage to your skin because of the exposure to the UV rays.
Spray Tan
Getting a spray tan is another quick way to say goodbye to your ghost white skin, as well. However these are temporary and you need to be careful about how drastic you decide to go when picking your color. Another issue that comes with getting a spray tan is it running and/or becoming streaky or splotchy after a while. Not cute.
Self Tanners
Today there are countless products on sale to help you tan from lotions to sprays. Some you apply before laying out in the sun and there are others that will give you that caramel color with just a few weeks of application. With some of these you also need to be wary of how well and even the coverage you are getting. Some lotions will run and leave you with streaks and splotches if not applied properly.
No matter how you decide to tan always use sunscreen to protect your skin. And remember you are going for sun-kissed gold not Dorito dusted orange.
