What I Never Thanked My Mom For Doing

There is a lot I never thanked my mother for. If I wrote everything I grateful for, I would never stop writing but here are a few things I need to thank my mom for.

What I Never Thanked My Mom For Doing

I owe my mother the world. She has been my rock throughout my entire life. My mom has done so much for me and I have never thanked her for all that she has sacrificed for me. So mom, thank you. Thank you for everything.

1. Thank you for always knowing what to say.

I know I used to come to my mom crying about the smallest problems. Honestly, I still do this. My mom always knows what to say to make me feel better, even when I think nothing will make me feel better.

2. Thank you for giving me the last slice of cake even when you wanted it.

Or letting me sit on the window seat of the plane even when you wanted to. Whatever it was that there was only one of, my mom would give it to me even when she wanted it herself. I never realized this as a child but now I see that my mom made sacrifices every day.

3. Thank you for protecting me.

My mother is the definition of a "Mama Lion." Nobody, and I really mean nobody, messes with her kids. I am so lucky to have a mother that stands up for me and protects me no matter what.

4. Thank you for supporting me.

My mother has supported me through everything. She went to every one of my concerts and musical performances. She was there for me when I didn't know what I wanted to do with my future and she continued to be there for me when I figured it out. Through the highest highs and the lowest lows, my mom has been there for me through it all.

5. Thank you for telling me when I am wrong.

I have learned to love my mother's honesty. Though I may have stomped my feet and slammed my door through my teenage years, I know now how lucky I am to have a mother that told me when I was wrong and said "no." Looking back, I know my mother only had my best interest in mind. Mothers really do know best.

6. Thank you for believing in me when I didn't believe in myself.

My mom's unwavering belief in me is the reason I am here today. She built me up when others were trying to tear me down. She told me I could do anything when I wanted to be nothing. I can't put into words how grateful I am to have a mom that has always believed in me.

7. Thank you for being an amazing role model.

All my life I had the best role model to look up to: my mom. If I grow up to be half the woman that my mom is, I will be able to conquer the world.

8. Thank you for being my best friend.

My mom really is my best friend. I couldn't find a better best friend if I tried. I can spend hours upon hours chatting with my mom about everything under the sun. I am so grateful for the hours spent cuddled up on the couch watching "Grey's Anatomy" and "Law and Order: SVU," baking cookies, sitting in the passenger seat of the car while you drove me everywhere and so much more. Through it all, my mother has been my truest friend.

I am incredibly lucky to have the mother that I do. I am so proud to call her "mom." Moving away from home only made me realize how much my mother did that I never thanked her for. So, thank you for all that you do, Mom. I love you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
