After being away at school for months, it made me realize how close my mom and I really are. I can go to her at any hour of the day and talk to her about any random thing that's on my mind, and she is always there for me when I need her. For those of you who would agree that your mom is your best friend, here are 14 reasons why my mom is:
1. She is the first person I call with good news.
From "I got an A on my paper!" to "I put on real pants today!", my mom is always as excited as I am.
2. She is the first person I call when I'm having a bad day.
Whether it's a bad exam grade or I'm just feeling homesick, there's nothing like a good FaceTime session with my mom to cheer me up.
3. She is the first person I call for literally anything.
"Just calling to say hi."
4. She knows the answer to every question I have.
"Can I put this in the microwave?" and "Do I wash a white and blue shirt with whites or colors?" are some of the millions of questions I have asked my mom.
5. I can go to her for anything.
Nothing is off limits or too embarrassing to talk about.
6. She knows me better than I know myself.
She can tell exactly how I'm feeling and what I'm thinking at all times.
7. There is no one I would rather hang out with.
Whether we're shopping at the mall or watching TV, every moment spent with my mom is a great one.
8. She laughs at all of my jokes.
Even the ones that aren't funny, aka most of them.
9. She gives the best hugs.
This needs no explanation; everyone knows moms give the best hugs.
10. She always encourages me to be my best.
College is full of stressful experiences, like cramming for exams or reconsidering my major, but my mom is always there to tell me that everything has a way of working out and that all I need to do is put in my best effort.
11. She believes in me even when I don't.
My mom is always there to remind me that I am capable of anything I set my mind to.12. She is always there for me.
Whenever I need my mom, she is only a phone call or three-hour drive away.
13. She shaped me into the person I am today.
I'm basically a college-version of my mom, so much so that I'm referred to as the mom of my friend group; it's a title that I hold proudly.
14. I literally would not be here without her.
I owe it all to you, Mom.
