Apologies in advance if this makes your separation anxiety worse.

One month in. Score. You've gotten through a third of your long and dreaded separation from Wofford. But, I've got some bad news: you've still got two more months to go. Summer is cool and all, but coming home is just not the same. After a month, the excitement of being home and seeing all your old friends has worn off after you've fallen back into old routines, but now you're getting stir crazy, bored, and anxious to go back. So, just to make you a little more homesick, here are a few reminders of why you love this place so much.

1. Your Roommates

In the words of Dr. Grey, they're your "person(s)." The ones you can go to for anything. The ones who know everything possible to know about you (including all of your weird habits). No one gets you quite like them. They've loved you through the mental breakdowns and the dance parties; they're the best.

2. Tailgates

Can it please be the fall? Who doesn't love putting on your favorite combo of black and gold to go hang with your friends and cheer on the Terriers? And when Homecoming/Parents Weekend roll around and you get to do the same old, same old with all of your favorite people in the same place.

3. Late Nights in Miliken

Admit it. These nights suck, but ultimately are a bonding experience. The caffeine/sugar gets flowing and it starts getting weird around 3 am, but you're never alone which is always comforting as you struggle to finish that last page of your eighteen-page research paper. You'll probably leave that night with several embarrassing new snapchats of your new friends, and that's a success in itself.

4. Spartanburg Restaurants

Whether its Cribbs, Broadway Bagel, Taco Dog, Willy Taco, Mon Ami, Japan House, Monsoon Noodle, Lime Leaf, Grouchos, Wild Wings, Skillet, Krispy Kreme, or Cookout, you're definitely craving something on this list that your current options just can't satisfy.

5. Wofford Squirrels

You know being nearly attacked on your way to Burwell or class by one of Wofford's famous squirrels is always a highlight to your day (or maybe not?).

6. Old Main Photoshoots

I can guarantee everyone reading this has at least half a dozen pictures of Old Main on your phone. We can't help it though, right? It just looks beautiful in all seasons, day or night, so its always photoshoot worthy walking back from the Row, Burwell, a late night in Mili, or on your way to class. Nothing at home is nearly as pretty good as Old Main.

7. Weekends at the Row

When it finally hits the weekend and you can celebrate the fact that you have survived the three all-nighters you pulled this week, there's no place you'd rather be than here. It's the one place you can just let it all go, dance like 'til your feet hurt, and make some of the funniest/best memories with all of your friends.

8. Wofford House

And let's not forget, the perfect ending to your night out is definitely at Phase 5 with Wofford House. Its chicken fingers or breakfast plate its always delish.

9. Friendly Faculty Faces

For some, this may be Paul Jones in the library, the Zach's ladies who know your sandwich order by heart, Ms. Kathy at Player's Corner, or a favorite professor, but you never know when someone on campus is going to brighten your day. Having people like that around you on campus is half of what makes this place so special.

10. The Train

Never thought you'd miss it, but hearing the familiar sound of the train engine as your alarm is an odd comfort that you prefer over your annoying little brother jumping on you in the morning.

11. No one else gets it.

Now, I'll leave you be while you cry for the next hour, sorry! See ya soon, Woff. <3

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
