We talk too loud, we're abrasive. That's right, we're theatre majors. If you know the struggle of dance calls, being too poor to buy tickets to Broadway shows, and getting up for an early morning class during tech week, then this is an article for you.
1. We have too many auditions to count (which means lots of time and preparation).
2. Lots of auditions means lots of possibilities for rejection.
3. No one understands what we do.
4. Having class from 8-4 and then rehearsal from 4-10.
5. FINDING GOOD MONOLOGUES.
6. Musical theatre majors have about two dozen songs to memorize per semester.
7. Finding extra practice time for your 12 dozen songs.
8. Getting all those extra meetings done that are required for graduation but have no use for your major.
9. Having to get the same amount of credits as everyone else but in 3 years.
10. What is a personal life?
11. Constant worries of how you'll live off the income you make
12. You spend 99% of the time self-loathing.
13. Trying to get a Broadway body while eating dining hall food
14. Constant fear of never getting a job
15. Knowing you aren't willing to do anything else with your life so you have to make it.
