Ah, Christmas. The feeling of ultimate joy, unconditional love and unexplained magic. All right, individuals 20 years of age and older might not feel the “magical” existence when thinking of Christmas, but children experience this when the holiday season comes around. The thoughts of magical elves and dancing sugar plum fairies flood their minds as the reflection of the Christmas lights twinkle in their eyes.

It is a bummer, though, when one is not capable of getting into the Christmas spirit. The amount of Christmas music, movies and lights can’t seem to get Christmas to switch on. One thing that has helped me is looking at these children and hearing their own accounts on Christmas.

Their stories of the flying reindeer steering Santa Claus throughout the whole world makes them jump for joy. And them being so excited actually gets me enthusiastic and motivated.

I asked a few children three questions: what Christmas means to them, what they are thankful for and what makes Christmas so magical? Their responses will certainly get you in the Christmas spirit!

"Mom, Dad, our friends, Santa, Rudolph, presents and candy."
-Amelia, four-years-old.

"Christmas means I get to spend time with family and friends. I am thankful for my family and friends."
-Avery, nine-years-old.

"Christmas means trees and snowmen and Santa and elves and stars and Angels."
-Nolan, six-years-old.

"Joy."
-Sophia, six-years-old.

"It's Jesus's birthday on Christmas."
-Brendan

"Christmas means spending time with your family."
-Aydin, 10-years-old.

"Being with your family and it's Jesus's birthday."
-Dylan, eight-years-old.

"Christmas is when we da the big twee wit all da lights, and Santa brings presents because I was good and I listed."
-Naylah, 4 years old

"It's like a second birthday but we go more places."
-Arianna, 4 years old

"Christmas means that her family loves her."
-Madelyn, 8 years old

"Mom, Dad, our friends, soap, water, toys, hair and candy."
-Amelia, 4 years old

"Getting toys AND Jesus! And spending time with family."
-Carson, 6 years old

"[I'm] thankful for *names every family member and animal in the entire family* *sings happy birthday Arianna while coloring*"
-Arianna, 4 years old
"Because if I not have food my belly would growl, and I like my toys because they make me happy."

"The elf on the shelf is the most magical thing about Christmas."
-Carson and Dylan, 6 years old

"There are lights everywhere."

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
