Our second decade is coming to an end and we are about to be 20. We just gotta make it through 365 more days until we're 21! Even though we are all excited, don't treat this year as a filler year. Make some progress and realize some of these important tips to give you a happier, and healthier mindset. Become more mature while you have the time of your life. I promise it's possible.

1. It's a good thing to know what you want.

It's not okay to be that person who just likes to party. Have other interests, figure out what you want to accomplish this year and go for it. Join a club to meet new people and start doing something to enhance your resume. Whether it's a new job or some community service, get it done and feel good about it. Keep in mind that it's cute to be the guy/girl who can skip going out one night to get something done that will better them.

2. However, go out whenever you can.

Your twenties are your selfish years, so they say, so go out and have fun with your friends as much as you can. Grey's Anatomy will still be on Netflix tomorrow.

3. Don't settle.

Just because your BFF has a boyfriend doesn't mean your time won't come. Take the time to learn about who you are and become secure in yourself. Confidence is key. Don't go for anyone who doesn't meet up to your standards.

4. Get rid of toxic people.

It's time to get rid of the bad boy (or girl); they aren't getting you anywhere. You can't let them drag you down anymore. You know they aren't good for you so give someone new a chance. Ya never know.

5. Learn how to do some things that you'll need to know in the near future.

It's definitely time to figure out how to iron, balance a checkbook, remove stains, and go grocery shopping. Put all of those things on your to-do list and you'll be one step ahead of the game.

6. LOVE YOURSELF.

Stop comparing yourself to your best friend, and Kylie Jenner. Just because you look different than someone who you think is pretty, doesn't take away from your own beauty. Be confident and happy with how you look. It's so important for your happiness and your success.

7. It's OK to lose some friends along the way.

Don't let it discourage you to lose a few friends. Sometimes nothing goes wrong, you just grow apart. The people who are meant to be in your life will stay there.

8. Not everyone is going to want to be your friend.

There's always that person who will be envious of you. Take it as a compliment, and don't stress yourself out.

9. Don't wait for things to happen on their own, go for it.

Open your own doors. Sometimes it's hard but it will get you much further. I struggle with this myself but am excited to be given another shot with another new year to become a better person.

10. Everything is going to be OK.

You made it this far and everyone else seems to figure out the 20 year old drama. Just remember, it will work out because it has to.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
