1.They still love you.
-The most important thing to remember, no matter what demon drugs took over their body, they are still your sibling and they still have a heart. They will always love you regardless of their highs or lows.
2.They didn’t steal your money, the drugs did.
-That money that went missing isn’t coming back, all that money you had saved in that piggy bank is long gone, just know that at this point in time it was their only option to get what they needed to feed the addiction, more or less the drugs stole the money from you.
3.Your parents still care about you and want to be there, regardless of the lack of attention.
-You’ve most likely gotten the cold shoulder; this is just because they’re dealing with a lot right now.
4.The person you see isn’t the person you grew up with.
They're still in there somewhere, I promise.
5.You don’t want to know what’s going on in the bathroom.
-You might think they have some bowel issues but that’s the denial of it, you know what’s going on behind that door.
6.They aren’t lying to you, they’re protecting you.
-You might feel left in the dark, but know that this is for your own good. Sometimes things are better left unknown
7.You can not change people.
-You can bring a horse to the water all you want, but you can’t make them drink it.
8.Rehab doesn’t always work.
-Relapse is a part of recovery, don’t give up on them just yet.
9.They are sick, and not with a cold or the flu.
-Withdrawals can be ugly. If you’re the younger one in the family and have to watch an older sibling go through withdrawals, then its even more confusing. No matter how hard you try to make them feel better, you don’t have what they need.
