Last Wednesday I was having the absolute time of my life at Yankee stadium. Even though my favorites didn't get into the World Series, they made it pretty far. I attended game five and the energy was electric. I had been to many regular season games prior to this and they were nothing compared to this one.
I'm a broke graduate and I couldn't afford playoff tickets so I entered a whole bunch of contests. Luckily I won the T-mobile and I even got corporate seats from the CEO himself. Winning this contest made me unbelievably happy and it was my first playoff game. Even with the short notice, I roped my brother into going with me (poor him) and we were on our way.
The view from our seats
As the game started I heard "Let's Go Yankees" louder than ever. Inning after inning, the Astros just got booed more and the noise increased. I was in line for food for the third because I, unfortunately, wanted chicken strips at the same time everybody else did. Tanaka did a great job and Kahnle followed. Every time the Yankees even got on base, the guys in front of us would turn around and give us a high five. Soon, the Yankees were up a few runs and they ended with a score of 5-0. We sang "New York, New York" and we couldn't be happier.
Even after the show as we were walking down to the parking lot, the crowd was still chanting "Let's Go Yankees". People were going crazy in the Bronx, and I've never been around that much happy energy. God bless those few Houston fans. I just kept thinking "I can't wait until the World Series" but unfortunately my babies lost in Game 7.
There's something amazing about this team they put together this year. The "baby bombers" Aaron Judge and Gary Sanchez basically carried the team on their back. Even with Judge's "slump" and Gary's missed catches, they finished in the top of the MLB. Don't get wrong. the veteran members also pulled their weight. Hicks and Bird were injured early on and Holliday was sick but they all got to play in the postseason. The entire team did what they had to ultimately and that's how they got to Game 7 of the ALCS.
The Yankees always have a special place in my heart because my family are all huge fans. I also have some pretty good friends because of it. I was forced to be one when I came out of the womb but I wouldn't have it any other way.
