Why Write For Odyssey

You may only know Odyssey as a website that is home to thousands of interesting student-written articles that are constantly posted on Facebook and shared on all forms of social media. However, Odyssey is much more than that. Odyssey is a social content platform for millennials to share their ideas and perspectives about relevant topics which otherwise may not be heard. It gives a voice to the voiceless and allows writers of all kinds to be able to publish articles and create a following. Our content creators vary from ages 18-28, which gives us various viewpoints on all topics.

With over 8,000 content creators from 700+ Odyssey communities, we are growing every day, and are on our way to being one of the biggest social content platforms of our generation. We have taken Facebook by storm by organically sharing articles person to person, therefore making each article more relevant to certain groups or communities. Odyssey is not a small startup anymore. Our website is host to some 30 million unique viewers a month and our content and communities will be expanded substantially in the upcoming months.

Being a writer for Odyssey is an incredible experience and has opened so many doors. I’ve been able to improve my creative writing and because each article is published, my writing has gone viral. Odyssey’s platform has made my ideas relevant and heard. I’ve been able to spread my ideas on social media, and be heard by readers across the country. I’ve watched my articles spread like wildfire and get over 50,000 shares all because of Odyssey.

Odyssey has also created a family for me in my community. They have created groups of content creators in communities that work together and are coached by the amazing staff at the main New York office. Each community has a Managing Editor who is based in New York who gives us the tools and motivation to succeed in our writing. They encourage personal growth through writing and make countless opportunities available for special jobs and reporting. They even offer editorial internships in the summer where you are able to take your Odyssey commitment one step further and make a difference in the home office.

If you are at all interested in spreading your story through content creation, I encourage you to join. It has opened so many doors for many of our writers and has changed our social media culture. You have the chance to be a part of a team that has successfully become the voice of our generation, and you will be surrounded by an incredible group of people that will help you succeed.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
