The matcha craze has lately been soaring. From matcha teas to matcha cakes, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook posts are covered with matcha everything.
But the question still remains: what exactly is matcha?
Well, I've got an answer.
Matcha is crushed green tea leaves that have been processed into a fine powder. This fine powder is then whisked with hot water, in order to get a "frothy" consistency. In doing this, you're actually consuming actual tea leaves, instead of just brewed tea leaves that you consume in regular green tea.
How healthy is matcha? Matcha tea has 100 times more antioxidants than regularly brewed green tea, as well as more nutritional content since you're consuming the entire leaf. Like the many benefits of green tea, matcha also aids in gradual weight loss by boosting metabolism and burning calories. And for all you caffeine lovers, matcha has an equal amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee.
However -- consuming everything in moderation is key. Although something may be healthy for you, consuming too much on a daily basis may be detrimental to your health! So, when it comes to matcha, just consume in moderation.
And although you may think so... this wonder tea isn't just made to drink, but to eat as well! From delicious matcha macaroons to matcha pancakes, the recipes are endless. Here are a few cool recipes you guys can try!
