Trump's Win: What Is All The Fuss About?

I am sure, by now, everyone has learned about the election results. If you have voted, I commend you for expressing your rights as an American and your opinion about who the next president should be. For anyone who did not vote, I do not want to hear you complain about how this country is “in trouble” or that you are mad about who won. Regardless who won or lost, why does everyone feel the need to protest? What do you think you are going to accomplish?

What does not make sense to me is why you are going around in your community and ransacking stores and people’s vehicles and homes just because Trump won. Not to mention, all the people’s valuables who have been destroyed because of a Trump sign or poster. Here is what the First Amendment says:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

There should be no reason to judge or discriminate against another person due to the way they voted — Not to mention protesting in front of Trump Tower or obstructing traffic. Yes, I agree, both candidates are corrupt and they may not be “qualified” for the position of commander-in-chief, but it is not like trump cheated to win the election. Hillary had the popular vote, and people still voted for Trump. Not to mention, neither of the candidates had been president before — you never know how the position could change Trump in a positive way. I mean, not for nothing, he already has been reaching out to Putin about a relationship and he has not even taken the oath of office yet. What I think is going to happen is that he will get people who are very smart and have lots of resources to take positions in his cabinet and, ultimately, he will succeed.

In terms of protesting, what is the end goal here? To reverse the results of the election that YOU voted in? It does not work like that. As much as you think you will make an impact, you are doing nothing but hurting yourself. Yes, this is a free country and you have the right to do as you please within reason, but trespassing, destruction of property, assault and murder are not acceptable. The slaying of police officers is also not the answer. Trump has a minimum of 4 years in office (assuming he does not get impeached) — If you think what he has done is not good enough after his 4 years, then vote against him. That is the best thing you can do. On the deportation side of things, if you have been in this country for at least a month, you have had more than enough time to establish residency. Everyone thinks just because they are Muslim or a minority that Trump will deport you, but he cannot do that you are a citizen of the United States.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
