What Helped Me Boost My Self Confidence

I went through a long time of having absolutely no self-confidence. These helped me get past that stage of my life and build some confidence. These have helped me get to where I am today and I wanted to share them with everyone, because it feels good to feel good!

Have a Routine.

Having a routine has personally helped me so much. Getting up for the day around the same time, heading to the gym, coming back to have breakfast and to get ready for the day has helped me get ready to take the day on. Taking the time to get ready is huge. Look good, feel good, right?

Exercise

Giphy

While many people HATE going to the gym, it does help A LOT. The first few times you may feel self-conscious since it's not a familiar environment, and the body builders can be a little intimidating, but you soon realize everyone started somewhere.

Sleep

Giphy

Getting enough sleep is SUPER important. If you're tired and cranky, you're not going to want to take the time for basic self-care. I know I'm bad for this, if I didn't sleep well or for more than 5 hours minimum, I won't take my morning shower, or I'll leave the house without eating breakfast. These are two important parts of my morning routine that I need to do in order to feel good during the day.

Get Organized

Giphy

Anyone is going to feel overly stressed and self-conscious when it comes to how messy your bedroom, living room or office is. If your room is a mess, your life will feel that way too. I tend to get more stressed out if my car, my desk or my bedroom are in a mess. It brings me down, it stresses me out, and I get angry because I can't find ANYTHING. Keeping clean and organized really does wonders. Also, cleaning can be fun and a great way to get rid of stress!

Think Positively

Giphy

Recognizing when you're being super negative and purposely replacing those with positive things. This is all about being self-aware and it can be hard to get into that habit, I've been trying for 10 years to get into that habit and I've finally almost mastered it. It's about realizing and acknowledging when you're having negative thoughts and trying to replace them with some more positive ones. For example: I tend to get angry at myself a lot, so when that happens, I try to think of why I should be proud of myself instead. Maybe I screwed up this one thing, but I did this other thing super well.

Superman Pose

This pose has been proven to help with self confidence! Try it out for yourself!

I hope these help you as much as they've helped me. And remember, you are powerful, brilliant, and brave!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
