I know Tinder has been around for a while, but being a girl who has been in a happy relationship for the past three years, I had never been on the app. That all changed when my friend and I went to get some ice cream and she started to tell me about her most recent Tinder adventure. The truth is, she has actually had luck with dating guys from Tinder. Times have really changed since I dated. When I was dating guys four years ago, “swiping left” on Tinder was equivalent to “poking” someone on Facebook. When people tell me about their Tinder accounts, I admit I’m pretty quick to judge. Are you really that desperate, I think to myself. But the truth is in this day, that dating is hard. Because apps like Tinder exist, people aren’t doing the old school way of getting to know someone first. Tinder makes it easier to get to “really know” anyone fast. So here are a list of thoughts I had when my friend showed me how to use Tinder for the first time:
1.Okay so what happens if I swipe left?
2. This guy seems cute for you!
3. Wait which one is he?
4. Why do these guys take pictures that have more than one guy in the photo?
5. Does that mean he is gay?
6. Oh so you can swipe up now?
7. What if I accidentally just swiped up?
8. That means you really like them?!
9. I’d be so creeped out by any guy that swiped up for me. Ew. No.
10. What if my boyfriend and I broke up and we found each other on Tinder a few weeks later?
11. I bet he’d swipe up for me still.
12. Okay I miss my boyfriend.
13. Time to get off Tinder.
14. I have officially seen enough.
My experience with Tinder was pretty funny. I don’t think I’ll be downloading the app anytime soon, but for all those who enjoy its benefits keep on Tindering. But guys...for real…only put one guy at a time in your profile pic for all my single friends! Please and thank you! Also, put a shirt on and stop taking mirror selfies.
