Have you ever been told you can't do something? Well I have, and once I was told that, I became more determined. So many people I know just give up, because it's easy. But honestly, ask yourself, why are you taking the easy way out? What is there to lose? Would going after what you want affect you negatively? If the answer is yes, then truly think about whether it is worth it or not. Yet, in my experience, I went after anything and everything, even if it could backfire on me.
I've been told by many that I have no talent, that I'm your regular, average girl who just sings, dances, writes, and acts. Fortunately for me, I didn't listen, and now I'm at my dream school, learning about my dream career. As much as moving to New York City was a leap of faith, I took it. I wanted to prove not only to people who said I couldn't do it, but also to prove to myself that I was good enough. The only thing I have to lose here is money. A lot of money actually, but money is money. I won't lose the knowledge I gained.
Do what makes you happy, and don't let anyone hold you back. You are your own person, and you have your own dreams. If you want to be writer, go for it. If you want to be a doctor, major in Pre Med. You are the only one who can create your own happiness.
